Most power plant operators and mechanical maintenance personnel have learned how to operate and repair the plant by working with experienced personnel (who were trained in the exact same manner) until plant management feels confident that they can control or repair the plant by themselves. This type of training (OJT) limits the student to those situations that have been shown only by OJT. When this new operator or mechanic encounters a new situation or problem, they are left to operate or repair by trial and error. The error can result in significant costs such as operation at a reduced output, a unit trip, or equipment damage. OMCSI provides the following general skills training in the Operations and Maintenance fields. OMCSI use only accomplished, seasoned instructors with years of experience in their professional fields. |
